Peeve

March 1, 2006 :: :: Teck

Diablo is miffed that she isn't a Blogebrity, and I agree, she should be. This is the first I've ever heard of Blogebrity, and I can't say I agree with all of their opinions, although I am glad to see Rex on the A-list. That guy is phenomenal.

One thing I agree with adamantly, however, is that BLOGS POSTS ARE NOT BLOGS, PEOPLE. God, I hate that. Hate it hate it hate it. Hate. HATE.

"I made a blog about Anna Nicole Smith today."
"Really?! You must be obsessed!"
"No. It only took me ten minutes. It's not like I'm going to make a blog about her every day."
"Oh. Post. You made a post. OK, leave."

And you know what? It's always the most out-of-touch sites that say that: "Recent Blogs." It's always corporate sites that don't really need or make great use of their blog, but someone read some article about how "blogs are hot" so now the company has a blog.

Which is why it really angers me that Myspace uses that definition. WE ARE TEACHING THE YOUNG TO TALK SHITSPEAK. We're engraining bullshit lexicon into the vocabulary of the next generation.

Somebody slap me.

some of them should be called slogs. pun intended.

Blogebrity? Jesus, what's next? Okay, mayble I'll start a blog about how Blogebrity is totally whack, then someone can make one about how I'm just a bitter loser, then I'll create one just for hateful rants about them, then...

It's already been done.

i'm happily floating on the z-list. mmmhm, the water's just fine here.

also: what is your stance on the use of the word 'blog' as a verb, e.g. "i'm going to blog about that when i get home!"?

I don't understand MySpace, even though I'm on there. What void is it filling that Friendster was not?

Sarah Brown, I don't understand why YOU'RE not a Blogebrity. Not that it means anything, but sheesh, if they're gonna make a list...

Anyway, Wix, I think the word "blog" as a verb is fine. It's a lot like the verb "Google" which is just a specific variation on "search." You can't say "write" because it's not specific enough, and while you could say "post," it's OK to be even more specific than that I think.

But you should never say, "I was blogging all morning," meaning that you were just reading blogs, because that's wrong.

i take issue with the word 'blog' and its incarnations. it makes me yawn.

however: i can't think of better idea that would catch fire like 'blog', so i might as well sit on my hands and quit bitching.

i would like the record to show that i am, as i recently stated in someone else's comments, engaged in a one-woman campaign to keep the word 'bowhead' in the popular lexicon.

I want blog to be the new fuck. Or the new shit. I can't decided.

Let's blogging go! You blogging blogger!

-or-

I just took a blog, and the fan just wouldn't take the stench away.

hee.....I just took a blog. Blogging kiss my blog, you bloghead! Blee-og!
