100% Perfect Duluth Day
September 4, 2006 :: Link :: Duluth | Journal
I have said before and I will say again, that there are days when Duluth, Minnesota completely opens itself up to you and demands that you have a good time. It helps a lot if you are free that day. This past Saturday was one such day for me, and luckily I was able to accept the opportunity.
The day started out with the Matson family's pizza party. (Well, actually, the day started out with coffee on the deck and some leisurely web browsing, but that doesn't count.)
Every so often, my friends the Matsons make pizzas in their brick oven, which is currently located in their yard. It used to be located at their cabin, which they sold, so they had to move the 10,000-pound oven to their house. A crane was involved. It was totally worth it.
This was my second pizza party, and I'll keep going as long as they keep having them. Making pizza is really fun, eating pizza is really delicious, but the whole experience with the oven and the casual gorging is unbelievable.
After the pizza party there was beer and badmitton at the Gonzo Science headquarters, with pasta salads I did not partake in for obvious reasons, and promises of movies to be projected on the old lady's house across the street. But I had to leave, because there was a Settlers of Catan game (actually two) in my future.
And of course, the night rounded out with the Transistor Mixer, which was down to hip-hop by Crew Jones and beer by Summit at that point,
Sweet as all hell.
